Founded in 1989, Glide/Write designs and manufactures precision components and assemblies for the data storage industry, including glide, burnish and magnetic data heads for testing rigid disk media. Our facility has 50,000 square feet of manufacturing space, of which 10,000 square feet is in Class 100 clean room. We are located in the city of Milpitas, California in the midst of Silicon Valley. Glide Write also has a factory in Binh Duong, Vietnam. Our factory locates inside the Vietnamese-Singapore Industrial Park. This facility currently has 25,000 square feet of manufacturing space and can be expanded as needed.
Products at the US operation are primarily made of ceramics and Piezo-electric ceramics and are produced by diamond saw blade slicing, free abrasive lapping and polishing, photo lithography, reactive ion etching, and film deposition by CVD or sputtering. We also offer our services through the expertise in these stated processes, as well as precision assembly work. Our Vietnam facility is mainly responsible for precision welding and manufacturing suspensions for specialty test heads, soldering work and precision assembly work.
Glide/Write has nine United States patents granted and one foreign patent granted. Our assembly personnel are skilled in microscopic assembly in a Class 100 environment. We specialize in rapid prototyping as well as high volume production. A combined Glide Write currently has 200 employees of which 40 are engineers and professionals.
